Nigeria’s Super Falcons will begin a nine-day training camp in Abuja on Monday as part of their preparations for the 12th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco next year.
The Nigeria Football Federation made the announcement in a statement released today.
According to the release, Head Coach Randy Waldrum has chosen an equal mix of domestic and international pros for the camping, which will take place between November 22nd and 30th.
The camp, according to the Federation, is intended at strengthening the group’s chemistry, affinity, and familiarity, as well as curating tactical and technical ways that would be most effective for the squad in a match situations.
Goalkeeper Onyinyechukwu Okeke, defender Akudo Ogbonna, midfielder Goodness Onyebuchi, and forward Mary-Ann Ezenagu lead the home team, each scoring two goals during the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament in Lagos in September.
The overseas-based team is led by defender Onome Ebi, who is joined by midfielder Rasheedat Ajibade, defenders Patricia George and Ashley Plumptre, and forward Desire Oparanozie.
After a 2-1 aggregate defeat of Ghana, the squad has advanced to the final round of the 12th Women’s AFCON qualifiers and will face Cote d’Ivoire in February next year for a place in Morocco.
