Rivers 2027: Dimkpa, Eze warns Nwanosike to change how he speaks about Amaechi …say nobody has monopoly of violence
The Chairman, African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rivers State chapter, Chief.Engr.Chukwudi Dimkpa (FNSE) and a chieftain ADC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, have warned Dr. Samuel Nwanosike, former Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area and a known loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike to change how he speaks about their party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi.
The duo gave their seperate warnings in reaction to a recent comment credited to Nwanosike that the political battle ahead of 2027 would be taken to Amaechi’s “bedroom, in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The ADC Chairman who gave his warning while speaking to a political pressure group, the Rivers Mobilization Network, made it categorically clear that no one person has the monopoly of violence, hinting that the law is explicit for self defense.
He disclosed that when the party will commence their legitimate campaigns, it will not only be formidable to resist intimidation, but also to defend themselves according to the law.
While explaining that the strength of ADC as a political platform was rooted from the people, he stated that the Governorship Candidate, Dr.Gabriel Pidomson,the Deputy Governorship candidate,Hon.David Okumgba and candidates of the party across all levels emanated from the people and not from ” OGA SAY”
He pointed out that Rivers State was not a private company of anyone, adding that the State was owned by Rivers people and no one can chase the people away from their homes.
He expressed optimism that the oil- rich State will have a free and fair elections to the victory of ADC, maintaining that 2027 elections will never be business as usual.
In his own reaction which was contained in a press statement, Chief Eze described the remarks Nwanosike, as reckless, uncivilised and reflective of a political camp that has run out of credible arguments.
He said it was particularly unfortunate that a former local government chairman, who ought to understand the responsibility that comes with political leadership, would resort to language suggestive of personal confrontation rather than engage the records, ideas and achievements of the former governor.
According to him, “politics is a contest of ideas, competence, records and the confidence of the people; it should never be reduced toa threats, intimidation or references to a man’s bedroom.”
He advised Nwanosike and his political associates to understand that Rivers people are not looking for political warriors who specialise in threats and rigging of elections, but leaders capable of presenting convincing solutions to the problems confronting the State.
Chief Eze further challenged Nwanosike’s attempt to rewrite the history of Amaechi’s relationship with the people of Ikwerre.
He noted that Amaechi’s political career cannot be assessed through the narrow prism of personal political patronage, adding that his tenure as Governor produced major investments in education, healthcare, infrastructure and human capital development across Rivers State.
He therefore urged Nwanosike to publish a verifiable account of what successive administrations and political leaders have delivered to Ikwerre rather than selectively attacking Amaechi for political convenience and relevance.
He said Nwanosike’s statement also exposes the growing desperation within the political camp he represents as the 2027 elections approach.
“If Nwanosike believes Amaechi has no political relevance, why the obsession with him? Why the threats? Why the repeated references to his person? The truth is that those who genuinely believe a political structure is dead do not spend their time warning it; they simply defeat it at the polls.”
Chief Eze said that the appropriate response to Amaechi in 2027 should be the presentation of superior candidates, superior ideas and superior performance—not threats of taking political battles into private spaces.
He further said though it is stooping low to respond to Nwanosike, it is important to bring to the notice of relevant authorities the intendment behind such reckless statement which is a clear revelation of a clandestine plot to kill and destroy ahead of the elections.
“As much as it is not my intention to join issues with this low character of a fellow but let me reiterate that President Tinubu and IGP Olatunji Rilwan should investigate the evil outburst that represents what Nyesom Wike taught them and invite him to explain how he intends to carry out his threat against a National figure like Rt. Hon. Barr Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
“It is sad to note that Nwanosike’s outburst portray his level of stupidity and position of the political camp he is coming from where they are taught the useless Politics of their master, Nyesom Wike that it is only through violence that they can win election but this time around they will be shocked with what will hit them as every sound Rivers State son and daughter has come to the understanding that Wike and his gang of imbeciles do not mean any good to the State.
“As a matter of fact, Amaechi brought them up politically and his political family will know how to dismantle all their vicious and evil plot against Rivers State and her people.
“We are not in any way disturbed by their foolish boast as by 2027 they will come to understand that their time of foolishness has come to an end”, he stated.
The ADC Chief reminded Nwanosike that Rivers State belongs to all its citizens and not to any individual, political godfather or faction, stressing that the 2027 election will ultimately be decided by the people.
He advised politicians who have become accustomed to political intimidation to prepare for a different political environment in which citizens will ask questions, examine records and make independent choices at the ballot box.
He challenged Nwanosike to take his campaign against Amaechi to the public square rather than the “bedroom,” where the people can hear both sides and determine who has served them better.
“If you have a case against Amaechi, bring it to the people. If you believe he failed Ikwerre, provide the evidence. If you believe your political camp has performed better, present the records. But Rivers State should not be dragged into a politics of threats, personal attacks and political vendettas,” he stated.
Chief Eze concluded by advising the political class in Rivers State to remember that political power is transient and that the people, not political godfathers, are the ultimate owners of the mandate.
He urged all political actors to conduct the 2027 contest with civility, maturity and respect for the democratic process, warning that no amount of political bravado can substitute for the verdict of the electorate.
