A 30-year-old lady, Joy Uyok, was almost lynched to death by her neighbours at Eliowhani town in Port Harcourt, today.
She was accused of selling her 10-months-old baby for N500,000.
It took the intervention of a pastor in the area to save her from being lynched
One of her neighbours who spoke to our correspondent under condition of anynomity, said the lady’s attitude towards the disappearance of her baby made them to suspect that she might belong to a baby factory syndicate.
According to the neighbour, she did not show any remorse when the incident happened.
He recalled that similar thing had occurred before in their compound where a baby was stolen and up to date the child is no where to be found.
But speaking in an Interview with Metronetworknews, Uyok denied the accusation.
Her words; ”On Tuesday, I was in the house and a member of my former church came to visit me. I did not know she carried a bad intention.
”As she was about leaving, she said she wanted to buy biscuit for my baby and then she went outside with him. Before I knew what was happening she disappeared with the child.
”I reported the matter at Okporo Police station on Wednesday, urging them to help me find the baby and arrest the culprit”.
