The Attorney-General and commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zaccheaus Adangor, has resigned from the Rivers state Executive Council.
This is coming on the heels of a cabinet reshufflement by Gov Siminialaye Fubara, which saw Prof. Adangor being deployed to the Ministry of Special Duties(Governor’s office).
In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, the former commissioner for Justice, stated that he was no longer interested to continue to serve in the administration of Gov. Fubara, in any capacity whatsoever.
He alleged that the governor in the past couple of weeks wilfully interfered with the performance of his duties as the Attorney-Genral and Commissioner of Justice, Rivers state, by directing him not to defend, oppose or appear in suits instituted against the Attorney-General and Government of Rivers state by persons admittedly hired and sponsored by the Government of Rivers state.
He stated that having served the Government and people of Rivers state as member of the State Executive Council for five years, it has become imperative for him to quit the administration in order to preserve his reputation.
Meanwhile, reactions have trailed his resignation as some people on social media described it as welcome development.
