Former Rivers state Governor Celestine Omehia and some prominent leaders under the aegis of concerned elders of Rivers state have faulted claims by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesome Wike that he built a house for Dr. Peter Odili, during his tenure as governor of the state.
The group, in a statement made available to media houses, clarified that the house the RSG built for Dr Odili in old GRA was not a favour from Wike, adding that it was the right conferred on him by law as a former governor.
“In fact, Dr Odili was very reluctant to relocate from his old house to the one built by Rivers State Government because of his contented lifestyle, and had to be persuaded by some of us to accept what was rightly his due by law”, the group disclosed.
“Chief Nyesom Wike did not build any house for Dr Peter Odili as he claimed.
“Dr Odili must be commended for the modest lifestyle he lives even after serving as Governor of Rivers State for eight years.
“As a modest man, Dr Odili, went back to his house where he was living as a private medical practitioner”, the group said in the statement.
The elders who signed the statement include; HE Tele Ikuru, Prince Uche Secondus, Rt Hon Austin Opara, Senator Lee Maeba, Senator Ngoji Denton West.
