The sultanate council has condemned the incident that took place at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in which a female student of the college lost her life.
In a statement signed by the Secretary, Sai’idu Muhammadu Maccido, DanBuran Sokoto, the council sued for peace among the students and people of the state.
It advised them to eschew violence as well as remain calm.
The council urged the security agencies to bring the perpetrators of the unjustifiable incident to justice.
The female student named Deborah Samuel was reported to have been burnt alive by some fanatical Muslim students of the institution for allegedly insulting Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Following the incident, the state governor, Rt Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, ordered the immediate closure of the college and directed the Ministry of Higher education and relevant security agencies in the state to commence investigations into the remote and immediate causes of the incident and report back to the government.
The governor also called on the people of the state to remain calm and maintain peace as the government would take appropriate actions on the findings of the investigations by the relevant authority.
