The zone F Vice President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Mr Opaka Dokubo has handed the keys to the Rivers State Council Secretariat to the Caretaker Commitee Chairman of the council, Mr Amaechi Okonkwo.
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by Justice Ihunwo, Secretary Caretaker Committee, in Por tHarcourt.
According to the statement, the handover which was done during his meeting with the CTC at the council Secretariat was part of his efforts to resolve the impasse that trailed the State Council election on August 12, 2021 and in compliance with the directive of the National Secretariat of the union.
It stated that the Zonal Vice President urged members of the CTC to eschew all form of bitterness and work in harmony to ensure a hitch free election that will usher in substantive executive of the union soonest.
Furthermore, It noted that the VP promised to work closely with the Credentials Commitee to ensure that all chapel that are financially up to date participate in the election and to ensure hitch free election, adding that no chapel will be denied their rights to participation in the election so long as they fulfill the necessary conditions.
It stated that earlier, the former Chairman of the council, Stanley Job Stanley and Secretary Ike Wigodo had in obidience to the directives of the National Secretariat handed over the Council property to the Zone F Vice President, Opaka Dokubo.
According to the statement, the Chairman of the CTC, Amaechi Okonkwo thanked the zone F Vice president for his ingenuity in resolving the misunderstanding in the council and sued for co-operation of members to achieve the main target of free and fair election.
