The Rivers state Commissioner of Police, CP Friday Eboka has been accused of conniving with the state Governor, Nyesom Wike to scuttle the bail application granted by the federal High Court to the detained PDP Governorship aspirant, Hon. Farah Dagogo.
The accusation was made in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, today and signed by the media aide to the detained aspirant, Ibrahim Lawal.
He alleged that the CP and the governor were planning to institute another case in order to incarcerate him.
The statement read, “Instead of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, obeying an order by the Federal High Court of the Port Harcourt Judicial Division granted Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo bail yesterday May 12, 2022 , the Commissioner of Police, in alliance with Governor Nyesom Wike, is planning an abuse of court process to thwart the bail application.
” Their latest move according to a source is to bring forward an earlier adjourned case of the State High Court of May 16,2022 to today May 13th.
“They are finalising Production Order to take the Federal Lawmaker, who is in a Medical Facility, to the State High court today at all cost in order to scuttle the earlier bail application granted him by the Federal High Court.
“The impunity being exhibited by the Police and the government of Rivers State have no bounds. Not only are they flagrantly disobeying Court Orders, they are also putting the life of the Federal Lawmaker in danger.
“The matter is already taking a dangerous dimension now with the Police through its State Commissioner, CP Friday Eboka and the Rivers State Government, under Nyesom Wike, using all means alien to the laws of our land to incarcerate Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo and further aid his worsening health situation.
“This is for the information of lovers of democracy and rule of law”.
All attempts to get reaction from the River state Police command proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
