A statement by the chairman, Hon. Matthew NenuBari Dike, said the proximity of the Film village to the council Secretariat can not be seen to foster security of the seat of the Local Government Area.
He pointed out that security reports attest to the inappropriateness of the project sited close to the Secretariat.
He, however, noted that the council had offered an alternative option of a relocation to the owner, Mr. Ndume Green, stating even though it is within the statutory obligation of a Government to acquire any land in a community for development purpose or stop any project which violates the security and development regulations of the area.
“The security of lives and properties of the people remain the basic and primary obligation of any Government. And the Hon. Matthew NenuBari Dike is irrevocably committed to secure lives and properties of the people of Tai LGA no matter whose ox is gored.
“Thus the proposal to site the project close to the Council’s Secretariat is not and cannot be in the interest of the people”, the statement read.
