The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA), Prince Ugo Beke has said that the politics of 2023 in the state is not about zoning but capacity, character and content.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt, Prince Beke said that the mood of the state is not about riverine, upland, Ikwerre or no Ikwerre, Ogoni or Ahoada and so on but what can you do, your character and what you are bringing on board.
“I think my chances are bright. We are not talking party right now. Nobody is talking about zoning.
“The country has been so messed up economically and in terms of human capital development and empowerment. They have failed in almost all the areas of governance. They have failed in corporate and economic governance and job creation.
” I think the issue is not about where somebody comes from. The issue is about who has the capacity, character and content”, he stated
Prince Beke pointed out that he has excelled in businesses and boardroom and would use his contacts to flood Rivers state with investment so as to create jobs for Rivers youths who have been passing through difficult times in a state of plenty.
“They call me boardroom guru at the federal level. I have been participating at the federal level for a long time. I have been on more than 3 federal government boards. I just finished from Abuja Investment and Infrastructure board.
“When I was a banker, I was part of the committee that developed the VAT system under the renowned Prof. Aluko. I am also on the governing council of NEPAD Peer review mechanism. Of course, I am involved in family business. We are into manufacturing of star foam. I am a director and major shareholder. I am also involved in oil and gas(down and upstream sector)
“I come with a lot of experiences. Amongst all the candidates, I am the only one with the greatest experience. I am the one to take our state upward. I am well equipped in terms of banking, manufacturing, consulting and human capital development. I am more prepared than all the candidates”, he said
Speaking further, he noted that APGA in the state is the third force that will counter PDP and APC who are already in disarray.
“APGA has been around for sometime in Rivers state. It may not be as the two big parties but it is definitely a third force. The party fielded a candidate in the governorship election in 2011 represented by ex-Gov. Celestine Omehia.
“APGA is the party that identifies with the ‘You’ and ‘I’ agenda meaning we are talking about love, peace, sincerity and purposeful leadership”.
The Emohua born politician called on Rivers People to rally round him and salvage the state
He stated that the focus of his campaign is three dimensional; economy, security and prosperity, promising that he will reach out to youths, women and elders to realise the agenda
Earlier, the gubernatorial candidate had visited the paramount ruler of Emohua and Nye-Nwe Eli Emohua xiii(OLO IV), His Royal Majesty Sir Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse.
He said that the visit was part of his consultations to traditional rulers and elders of the state to rescue the state and reposition it in the track of development.
