A caretaker simply identified as Okoro is cooling off his heels in police custody for allegedly attacking a tenant, Asuquo Effiong and his sister, Ruth Effiong, with a 2inch height and 2inch width hard wood at Eneka area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The suspect, Metronetworknews learnt was arrested, following a report lodged at the OKporo police station by the victims.
Speaking to the media, Ruth Effiong who was writhing in pains , said that the caretaker assaulted them over their unpaid rent.
”What happened was that he came on saturday to demand for rent and my brother pleaded with him to give us some time as he has not been paid his salary.
”On Sunday when we went to visit our elder brother, he came and lock up our room before we returned. We had to remove the lock.
”Today (Monday),he came around 6 am and asked why did my brother remove the lock. Before my brother could respond, the caretaker used the 2×2 wood in his hand to hit his head which made him to collapse. Afterwas, he used the wood to flog me all over my body. We have reported the matter at Okporo police station. The Police asked us to get a doctor’s report”. she narrated.
