Atleast three Operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) of the Police attached to the Force headquarters were killed on Sunday after their patrol van was involved in a fatal motor accident along the Kubwa-Zuba expressway in Abuja.
The police officers were said to be traveling to Kaduna state for a special assignment before the accident occured opposite the Gwarimpa Estate section of the road.
Eye witnessess said the patrol van while on top speed, experienced burst tyres and fell into an open drainage on the roadside, leaving the three officers dead.
“I was about crossing the road to the other lane when the Police Patrol van on top speed, suddenly lost control and crashed into the drainage divide, leaving three policemen dead”, an eye witness said.
Metronetworknews gathered that the corpses of victims have been evacuated to an undisclosed hospital by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the FCT Emmergency Management Agency.
The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), FCT, DSP Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident but said she did not have details of the number of casualty involved in the accident.
