A 23-year-old suspected motorcycle snatcher, one Yahaya Muntari of Ruma village, Batsari LGA, who specializes in luring unsuspecting commercial motorcycle riders to lonely roads and strangulate them to death using motorcycle clutch cable wire in order to steal their motorcycles haS been arrested by the katsina State Police Command.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, said,”Nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was accosted by police patrol team attached to ‘Anti kauraye’ on routine patrol along Batsari road behind KTTV where he lured one Abdullahi Bello ‘m’ aged 22yrs of Dantsauni village, Jibia LGA, a commercial motorcycle rider and strangled him with a cable wire”.
The PPRO further said, “The victim was rescued by the timely intervention of the police and was rushed to General hospital for treatment”.
He also said, “In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to have killed many of his victims through the same modus operandi and mentioned the duo of one Abubakar Musa alias Abu-Abu ‘m’ aged 17yrs of Unguwar Abba Jaya and Zaharaddini ‘M’ aged 25yrs of Unguwar Tsamiya, both of Dutsinma town, Dutsinma LGA, as members of his syndicate.
“All suspects have been arrested and confessed to the commission of the offence as investigation is ongoing with a view to arresting other members of the syndicate”, the PPRO noted.
Similarly, the command has busted a notorious syndicate of terrorists and rapists in the state.
“On the 30/05/2022 at about 1600hrs, the Command succeeded in busting a notorious syndicate of terrorists that led to the arrest of the duo of one Isah Sabitu alias “Babani”, ‘M’, aged 20yrs and Idi Salisu Gadi, ‘M’, aged 20yrs of Musawa LGA, notorious members of the syndicate.
“The fact of the case is that on 28/05/2022 at about 2000hrs, terrorists numbering about three (3), armed with dangerous weapons, attacked the residence of one Sakina Sanusi, ‘F’, of Rugar Kusa village, Musawa LGA and robbed her of money the sum of two hundred and sixty three thousand naira (N263,000:00K) and one GSM Vivo valued N8000, belonging to one Abdulkadir Adamu and also kidnapped her daughter one Hajara Lawal ‘f’ aged 18yrs of the same address to Bambama forest. In the course of investigation, Police Patrol Team, rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt at the forest.
“One of the suspects identified as Babaye is presently at large. Investigation is ongoing.
“On the 31/05/2022 at about 0900hrs, three (3) women, all from Jikamshi village, Musawa LGA, reported at Musawa Division that at different time intervals, one Jume Bello, ‘M’, aged 20yrs of the same address, criminally trespassed into their houses attacked them with knife and robbed them of their money, handset and forcefully had unlawful carnal knowledge of the victims.
“In the course of investigation, the suspect was arrested and confessed to the commission of the offence. Investigation is ongoing.
“On the 24/05/2022 at about 1130hrs, the command succeeded in arresting one Usman Haruna, ‘M’, aged 23yrs of Ruwan-Godiya village, a member of outlawed Yansakai group, who conspired with others at large, abducted one Ibrahim, an Okada rider to the bush, beat him to death and snatched away his motorcycle.
“In the course of investigation, it was revealed that the suspect conspired with three other suspects one (1) Nasiru Ali ‘m’ (2) Adamu ‘m’ and (3) Sa’adu all of Ruwan godiya village now at large. Investigation is ongoing”, the statement read.
