Nigerians have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to resign from office if the job is tough for him.
The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, advised the president to resign right away because the country appears not be making any headway in many fronts.
Baba-Ahmed, who gave the advice in a tweet, yesterday, enjoined the president to resign and hand over to his Vice, Yemi Osinbajo.
He stated that it was not too late for him to throw in the towel.
In the same vein, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), in a recent statement called on the President to resign immediately.
The statement admonished Buhari to be “a statesman by tendering his resignation from office now to stave off greater disasters that await the nation should his rudderless government persists in its infamy, impunity and lawlessness”.
The calls for the President’s resignation followed his confession that Nigeria is tough and he is eager to leave the office.
President Buhari made the confession when he hosted some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, legislators and chieftains at his Daura home in Katsina,
“I wish the person who is coming after me the very best. I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough,” he had said.
