A young man was allegedly lynched to death by a mob of angry youths at Eziama- Obaire around Mgbabano junction in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
The man was said to have been beaten to death for attempting to steal motorcycles.
The deceased, according to eyewitnesses, had gone to the community to steal motorcycles alongside four other armed robbers but
he was caught by some motorcyclists and the youths of the community, who allegedly killed him, while, his colleagues managed to flee.
One of the eye witnesses said, “They have been snatching people’s motorcycles for a long time. They would come from the Amaraku area of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area but this time around they came through Njaba area into our community to steal a motorcycle”.
All attempts to confirm the incident from the state Police Public Relations Officer, Michael Abattam, proved abortive as at press time.
