Lagos state House of Assembly lawmakers have restated their total support for Mojisola Meranda who officially assumed office as the Speaker , on Monday.

The lawmakers who posed for photographs, symbolizing their collective support for her leadership, urged her to continue her work.
“Madam, continue your work; your work is appealing to us. You are the Speaker, you are the Speaker, you are the Speaker.
“Speak for Lagos. Continue with your work,” they chanted in unison.
After the accolades, the lawmakers followed Meranda to her official office, where intense prayers were offered as she settled into her new role.
Metronetworknews reports that security was beefed up around the Assembly complex over palpable fears of showdown should the ousted speaker, Mudashiru Obasa grace the plenary session today.
Obasa, had at the weekend insisted that he remains the Speaker.
Monday’s plenary makes it the third session presided over by Meranda since Obasa’s removal, with the former speaker absent at the last two sittings.
A notice signed by Omotayo Adekemi on behalf of the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Taiwo Ottun, stated: “Following management directives, all staff members and legislative aides must present valid identity cards to access the House premises.
Similarly, in an interview on Sunday, the Lagos state Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olawale, said assured the public that it will maintain order throughout the state.
“While the Police have no business inside the Assembly, it is our duty to ensure calmness outside the premises and across the state”, he said.
