A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has taken a swipe on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Nyesom Wike, over his uncomplimentary remarks on the person of Africa’s most admired democrat, former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Waziri Adamawa.
Wike had through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, inferred that if Abubakar says he is not contesting the 2027 presidential election again, the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party will go down, blaming the problems facing the PDP on the former vice president.
The SSA claimed that Atiku has always been putting his personal interest above party interest, and the leadership of the PDP has so far failed to call him to order.
In a statement made available to media houses, Eze said he was minded to react on the insensitive, undemocratic and misleading narrative by Wike, because of the fact that it has become the Minister’s stock in trade to drop Atiku’s name anytime he wants to score cheap political goal.
“I make bold to tell Wike that his attack on Atiku is irrational, fallacious and a mere expression of prideful spite, occasioned by hallucination and Atikuphobia.
“It is paradoxical, absurd and morally debasing for Wike, to purport that the presidential interest of the former Vice President, is the crux of the internal crisis within the PDP.
Such a trash and false perception from Wike is grossly illogical and contrary to established facts on the matter.
Eze, a member of the APC Legacy Projects Media Team, further said Wike’s recent attack on Atiku didn’t come as a surprise to him in the sense that Nigerians of sane mind are in the know that Wike is playing to the gallery to remain in the good books of President Bola Tinubu.
“From the standpoint of objectivity and truth, not a few Nigerians view Wike as a self-styled despot and dictator, who always want the buck to terminate at his table.
“If Wike were to be a good man, peace-loving and a progressive democrat, he would not have been fighting Siminalayi Fubara, a man voted by the people of Rivers State to govern them. His thirst for power, tyrannical mentality, and envy, will never allow him think like a decent politician, as he is always in the centre circle of the box of ‘I’m-in-charge’ politicians. If I were Fubara, the Governor of Rivers, Wike will only step into the State at his own risk. After ruling for 8 years, out of sheer greed and knack to hold unto power, Wike doesn’t want his fellow man to rule except Fubara governs under his whims and caprices. It’s too bad, annoying and nauseating for Nigerians to believe a man like Wike.
“Anyway, Nigerians know that Wike is suffering from acute dementia, and that explains the reason he is blaming a man who among few other democrats, laboured day and night to install democratic governance in the country, as the problem of PDP.
“The former Rivers State Governor’s debilitating mental health has made him to forget so soon that he is in fact, the architect of the protracted crisis undermining the PDP due to his selfish agenda of trying to hijack the Party for his personal aggrandizement.
“Let me school Wike that he is not a man of principle and does not have the moral and mental capabilities to be a firm minded individual. A good politician must have an ideology he believes in, and must be a complete party man, who rises and goes down with his party.
“As a result of selfishness and fear of the unknown, Wike a card carrying PDP member is in deed and in action, a member of the ruling APC. A man serving two masters at a time is nothing but a hypocrite. This is a dangerous style of politics and it will only breed and instil blackmail, betrayal, divisive tendencies, lack of trust and eye service in internal party politics in Nigeria.
“However, Wike has been blindfolded by his hatred for Atiku, forgetting that no matter the name calling and pouring of insults on one of Nigeria’s reverred democratic institutions, he has the likes of David Umahi, Godswill Akpabio, Hope Uzodimma, Adams Oshiomhole etc to contend with in the APC. Wike’s antics are just aimed at currying favour from President Tinubu, and with time, this unholy marriage of two strange bed fellows will certainly result into an unwanted political pregnancy.
“At this point, I want to drum it loud into Wike’s deafened eardrums that the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, will contest the PDP presidential primaries ahead the 2027 general elections if he so wished. No amount of casting aspersion or making inflammatory statements against Atiku, will change this narrative. Therefore, I advise Wike to bury the undemocratic thought as only God and Atiku will decide if he will contest the 2027 general elections.
“My good friend, Lere Olayinka, please do Nigerians a favour by reminding your boss that Atiku, even on occasions he temporarily left the PDP, was still instrumental in unifying the party.
“From Wike’s time as a local government chairman, Rotimi Amaechi’s Chief of Staff, Minister of Education (State), and Governor of Rivers State, Atiku never destroyed PDP. It is the PDP that gave Wike the platform to become what he is today. If anybody had destroyed PDP, would Wike be anything in Nigeria’s political terrain today? Certainly no.
“The question on the lips of some Nigerians is; Why is Wike destroying the very internal democratic fabrics of a party that gave him the political leverage to rise to stardom? The answer is not far-fetched: Simply, it’s selfishness and pervasive greed.
“At this juncture, I urge Wike to shelve his political underhand schemes targeted at Atiku as they are dead on arrival and will only lead him to political dungeon”.
The APC Chief recalled that during the PDP Presidential primaries ahead of the 2023 elections, the FCT Minister, then Rivers Governor, assures delegates that he would support whoever emerges the party’s candidate for the general election but ended up fighting the party after his loss and ultimately supporting the candidate of an adverse party against the PDP – the party whose membership he claims.
“Nyesom Wike has been in the habit of faulting and sabotaging the chances of anyone who doesn’t support his cause.
“He does this by fanning the embers of discord and hate through media engagements, unnecessary court actions and intense lobbying of close allies of the perceived adversary.
“As a matter of fact, if the leadership of the PDP were to be tack, organized and disciplined as before, the likes of Nyesom Wike would be nowhere close to leadership- he would have been shown the exit door long ago.
“But the FCT Minister is seriously benefiting from the indiscipline he has infested on the party through the prodigal use of the common patrimony of Rivers people when he was Governor”.
Chief Eze noted that ‘the proponent of the crisis in the PDP is Nyesom Wike, who, in his inordinate political ambitions, tries to get hold of the leadership of the party at every slightest opportunity in a bid to advance his political estates’.
The party chieftain said Atiku will contest the 2027 presidential election, and would retire Wike and his hold of undemocratic forces who are hellbent on destroying the party’s nascent democracy, and redeem the battered global image of the country.
“It is unheard of and disappointing so, that one individual will belong to and fight to lead two political parties at the same time. It is only in Nigeria that this madness is entertained and stage perpetrated honored as King.
“One would have love to hear Wike and his jobless aides to respond to the involvements of the FCT Minister in rigging the 2023 presidential election in Rivers. Wike and his aide would have used that opportunity to explain his interest in trying to lead two political parties at the same time.
While calling on Wike and his aides to enjoy the meal served them while it lasts, Chief Eze said Nigerians are tired of the FCT Minister and his barrage of careless ululations and are waiting patiently to end his trajectory of political inadequacies which had severely battered the image of the country.
