A truck driver and two other persons have been arrested by the Kano State Hisbah Board for smuggling over 24,000 bottles of beer into the state.
The acting Assistant Commander General, Intelligent Crimes Dispatch Unit of the board, Fu’ad Dorayi, disclosed this on Wednesday.
Dorayi expressed gratitude for the support from Dawakin Kudu Hisbah Command and other citizens and urged the pubkic to report any vehicles carrying suspected products along specific routes, including Kano/Zaria Road, Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi Road, Kano-Katsina Road, Kano-Maiduguri Road, and Kano-Hadejia Road.
In his remarks, the board’s Director General, Alhaji Abba Sufi, noted that the Hisbah personnel in the state have been proactive in enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against the smuggling of beer and other intoxicating substances into the state through its neighbouring state borders.
The DG commended the Hisbah personnel for collaborating with stakeholders in the crusade against beer smuggling into the state, in line with the state’s adoption of the Sharia.
