The Rivers State Accountant-General, Siminialaye Fubara, who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) for alleged fraud has won the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship primary election in Rivers state.
Fubara who scored 721 votes to emerge the winner is said to be the preferrred aspirant of Governor Nyesom Wike, whom he wants as his successor.
Fifteen aspirants participated in the election which took place at the Dr Obi Wali Conference centre, Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
They include; Felix Obuah, George Kelly, Abiye Sekibo, Gabriel Pidomson, Senator Lee Maeba, Similaye Fubara.
Others are Austin Opara,Senator Olaka Nwogu,Isaac Kamalu,Boma Iyaye,Tammy Danagogo,David Briggs amongst others.
It would be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in a statement issued recently declared Fubara and 58 others wanted for for alleged N435 billion fraud.
“Siminayi, and four other Rivers State government officials, among others, are wanted for suspected N117 billion fraud, alleged criminal conspiracy, money laundering, misappropriation of public funds, and abuse of office”. The EFCC stated in a statement .
The Commission called on the general public to assist in apprehending the Accountant-General and other suspects.
