He called for a change of this practice and urged the Government to pass laws that protect animals against cruelty and abuse.
The statement read in part, ”The September 10 debate between D.J Trump and K. Harris threw up an unexpected subject when Trump raised the allegation that certain immigrants are eating cats and dogs belonging to their neighbors.
”While there is no proof to support the Trump allegation, one thing was made very clear.
”The civilized world stood in agreement and unison that eating cats or dogs is despicable, criminal and barbaric.
”To the civilzed world, it is unthinkable that a human will kill a cat or dog in the most horrific manner and eat it.
”Cats and dogs are pets considered as members of the family.
”It is my strong belief that anyone that can eat a dog possess the appetite to kill and eat a human.
Such a person is clearly a danger to society.
”I educated Nigerians that eating a dog or a cat is a symptom of insanity, in my strong opinion.
”As an Ondo man, there is a yearly festival in Ondo town during which dogs are killed and eaten.
”My immediate and extended family have never witnessed or participated in such barbaric ritual”.
