A post by former senator Magnus Abe, portraying the former Rivers state Governor and now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Nyesom Wike as sincere politician has generated a feeling of intense disgust among facebook users.
Abe made the description when he took to his facebook page to announce that he has made peace with Wike.
He said, “I have made Peace with the Hon Minister of the FCT, and fomer Governor of Rivers state. I accompanied him to Chief Tony Okocha’s thanksgiving to show that my commitment to end the rifts in our party is total.
“I want to publicly thank the Minister, he could have behaved like other politicians_made peace with me, and still encourage me, Tony and others to continue fighting (You bring Magnus in the morning through one door, then bring Tony in the evening through the other door). But his style is direct, truthful and sincere, and it will create a united team”.
Reacting to the post, many commentors fumed with rage, stating that the same person that was formerly called evil is now being described as sincere politician.
They urged Abe to also make peace with former governor Chibuike Amaechi if his intention was truly to keep APC alive in the state.
They predicted that Wike would use and dump him as he did in the past.
Here are some of their reactions obtained from the comment thread by Metronetworknews.
Mercy Obene; “Your political survival is the consideration for this peace. Hope those that lost their lives and properties for your sake will also benefit from this political survival peace accord”.
Justic Oguzie: “I can simply conclude that no politician is fighting for the masses. Once their personal interests are met, they shamelessly realign with the opposition and start singing praises of the person they formerly call evil”.
Imegi Ahiazunwa Shedrack: “Since we are in the era of making peace, Sir please make peace with Rt. Hon. Rotimi Ameachi. Is Wike an APC member now?
Sunny Iyere: ” It’s all about personal interest”.
Anayo Jasper: “Only those that got hurt or loss their lives for your sake will feel the pains of your decision. Good lesson for upcoming ones to tread with caution. Know your status in one’s life before you carry his matter for head. Every Nigerian politician is fighting for his personal gain and not for his followers well being as they preach to you to gain your support. Use your heads, supporters”.
Prince Giovanni Shedrack: “Dear Mr. Magnus Abe, I used to hold great respect and admiration for your political approach, which garnered you organic followers who supported you out of genuine affection. It’s disheartening to see that you’ve allowed yourself to be easily manipulated by Minister Wike, despite your intellect and prowess. What about your loyal supporters who stood by you in the face of opposition from Wike? Some even sacrificed their lives for your cause. Have you bothered to inform them of your allegiance shift and your association with Wike? Today, I fear that Wike will exploit and discard you without a second thought, leaving you without value or support”.
Olawuni Sakin: “When you see a desperate person seeking for power all corners, he will never mind to dine with community enemy, even dine with devil is not his problem”.
Omereji Orji Loveday: “He encouraged you and Tony to continue to fight who? I thought you said the fire in the party have been extinguished. Why do they always use you to fight?
Ezekwem Vinnie Isoma: “Good to know that you are now in the same party with the FCT minister”.
Joseph Diepiriye: “Politics is a game of interest. I know too well that you have played politics against Wike and you have also played politics together with him. For me ooo! it’s a game.
“My advice is please give him or show him your TOTAL loyalty, humility, and kindness by so doing the party will be in better position. Just as you have said good about him, be good to him too. Don’t create faction in the party even if what you want is not giving to you at the moment. Remember how your followers have suffered hunger, etc because of faction and interest. Please let us see change in you. Thank you and God bless you”.
Sylvester Mbadike: “Since you make peace have you also make peace with your supporters too”.
