A political analyst, Wosu Chizi, has warned that Rivers state political landscape may tilt in favour of All Progressives Congress(APC) come 2023.
Speaking in an interview with Metronetworknews in PortHarcourt, he predicated his prediction on certain political developments in the state such as the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi’s declaration to run for the Presidency and the tacit support of the President, Muhammadu Buhari.
He said other factors are; Gov. Nyesom Wike’s style of governance and his slim chances of clinching PDP presidential ticket.
His words; ” Amaechi being an aspirant and peradventure he becomes the candidate, Rivers people would want to give him support”.
” Wike’s style of governance has frustrated alot of his supporters. Commissioners are not giving the latitude to do their work. Other party chieftains are denied opportunities of some boards. His style of running Rivers state is like a sole administrator with private estate approach’.
“The governor’s deceptive promise to alot of persons such as his SSG, Tammy Danagogo, Austin Opara, Felix Obuah, George Sekibo etc will pit those persons and their supporters against him”.
” Many Rivers people feel that Gov. Wike might not even get nomination of Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) talkless of winning as President”.
” His treatment of traditional rulers in the state has annoyed alot of prominent Rivers men and women who watched with dismay how he practically worshipped other traditional rulers in other parts of the country”.
“So, a calculation of these factors will tilt the political landscape in favour of APC. The state is likely to change going by the above mentioned reasons”, he said.
