A call has gone out to President Bola Tinubu to sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory(FCT), Nyesom Wike now.

The South South Youths Initiative (SSYI) led by its National President, Comrade Imeabe Saviour Oscar, made the call at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The group opined that Rivers state would experience an atmosphere of tranquility if Wike is removed from office.
“We believe that if Wike is relived as FCT minister, he will behave well as a citizen of the country.amd peace will return to Rivers state.
They warned that retaining Wike could be construed as presidential approval of the lingering political turmoil in the state, adding, that it might also make President Tinubu to lose crucial electoral support in Rivers State in the 2027 general elections.
“As youths of Rivers State and the South South region, we are not comfortable with what is happening in Rivers State, when every other state is thinking about industrialization, every other state is boosting their economic situation, Rivers State is faced with an unnecessary political crisis orchestrated by the FCT Minister.
“We want Nyesom Wike to understand that we are not happy with him as youths of the state and as youths of this region.
“We are hereby calling on Mr. President to sack him. We believe that if the minister is sacked, Rivers State will be at peace, except Mr. President want to let us understand that he is the one sponsoring Nyesom Wike to actually go ahead to cause chaos, political turmoil in the state.
“The President is making us feel that he is responsible for the political tussle in the state. His refusal to sack Wike is an indication that he is interested in what is going on. If Mr. President wants to prove to Rivers people that he is ot interested in the crisis orchestrated by Wike, his FCT minister then he should relieve Wike of that position as FCT minister”.
Speaking further on the fresh mpeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Prof Ngozi Odu, the youths argued that it was not about financial misconduct but a politically motivated witch-hunt allegedly ochestrated by Wike.
” The political tussle in Rivers state is purely political witch hunt because Wike has been refused to be incharge of the state resources.l”, the group said.
The youths accused the Martins Amaewhule led Rivers state House of Assembly of acting as “political tools” to destabilise the state and undermine governance.
