One of the returnee commissioners in Rivers state, Chief Emeka Woke has disclosed that people who worked against the election of Gov. Siminialayi Fubara are the ones now parading themselves as his friends.
Woke revealed this while speaking at the Rivers-East Senatorial District Revalidation Exercise of the GDI held in Ikwerre LGA council.
”Vultures who worked against the election of Gov Fubara are the ones now parading themselves as his friends”, he said.
Speaking further, Woke clarified that none of the re-appointed commissioners returned on their own, saying Gov Fubara re-nominated them to the assembly for screening and confirmation.
He said even when the secretary to the state government wrote to each of them to find out if they were interested in returning to the executive council, none of them responded, until the assembly invited them for screening.
”We presented ourselves for the screening in line with the presidential resolution, for the peace and unity of Nigeria” he disclosed.
Furthermore, Woke lambasted the kinsmen of Gov. Fubara for pulling down the bill boards of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesome Wike, in Opobo town.
”They can pull down Wike’s pictures in Opobo but they can’t retrieve the key to Opobo presented to him by the Traditional Ruler of Opobo, after he gave them road to travel home by land for the first time in history”, he said.
He alleged that agents of the APC candidate approached him to help remove Gov Fubara through the Supreme Court.
”Agents of the APC candidate contact me to see how they can get support to remove Gov Fubara through the Supreme Court but we stood our ground to defend the victory we recorded in the 2023 election”.
Woke noted that Wike hired and paid the lawyers that defended Gov Fubara’s victory from the tribunal, up to the supreme court.
”Apart from adopting Gov Fubara as the candidate of the PDP and ensuring that he emerged victorious at the general election, our leader, Nyesom Wike also hired and paid the lawyers that defended Gov Fubara’s victory from the tribunal, up to the supreme court.
”He had at no time wanted Gov Fubara removed through the court.
”It might interest you to know that it was in Nyesom Wike’s position to bear witness on whether or not Gov Fubara resigned his appointment as accountant general before contesting election, which was the matter at the Supreme Court but he didn’t”, he stated.
