As the federal government continues with the “no work’ *no pay” policy, lecturers in the University of Port Harcourt are git with hunger.
Some have started disposing their properties, beginning with the less important.
The victims of their selling are being thir pets, dogs
Metronetworknews gathered from a Veterinary doctor(names withheld) in Port Harcourt that many lecturers have brought dogs of different kinds such as; Alsatian, Rotweller, Pitbull and so on.
It learnt that apart from the dogs, non essential cars have been put for sale at cheap give away prices by the lecturers.
It also learnt that some lecturers have resorted to petty businesses to stand the defiance.
One lecturer who pleaded anonymity told Metronetworknews that they are prepared to sell off what they have rather than go back and be disgraced by the government.
“We are not going back to teach. Government does not have respect for their intellectuals. The increase in salary is a pittance. Why are they not calling it in figure but chose percentage? We will never go back disgraced. We will sell off all we have and engage in petty busines until we are heard”, he vowed.
