All is now set for a one- day conference tagged ‘Mindmatics,’ organised by the University of Port Harcourt Faculty of Humanities Students’ Association (FHUSA), at the institution.
Speaking during a press briefing to unveil the conference with the theme: “The Challenges and Possibilities of the New Generation and Emerging Leaders In A Changing World””, the Assistant Director of Welfare of FHUSA, Comr. Kúsémé Idiong, said that the conference which is scheduled to hold on the 27th of October, 2023, would draw participants from students across faculties and Departments of the school and notable guest speakers to educate students on relevant issues.
According to him, the event became necessary in order to provide students with right tools they need to overcome peer pressure, restiveness and understand the significance of effort, perseverence and developing new techniques to cultivate their abilities.
He added that the conference would offer students mentoring, advice on confidence- building in leadership and governance, career, mind renewal and entrepreneurship strategies, amongst others.
“This leadership conference is a better ground for us to sink into the minds of students not just in the Faculty of Humanities but across faculties, to see the need to integrate leadership into the curriculum.”
“This conference is going to be two-phased. On one side, we will have a workshop where we will give out our very best to groom the students and on the other hand, there will be refreshments where we are going to have a quiz competition, spelling bee competition and comedy to spice up the conference”, he said.
