Two persons were feared dead while six others were injured in an accident involving two tricycles popularly called ‘Keke Napep’, which collided on Sunday Morning opposite Jonyson filling station axis of the East West road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
Eyewitnesses said that the accident was caused as a result of overspeeding and illegal act of plying one-way.
One of the eywitnesses said, “The accident happened at about 8:00am in the morning. It involved two tricycles carrrying 8 passengers. One of the tricycles coming on high speed from Tank area and plying one way in the middle of the express way collided with another tricycle heading towards Eleme Junction from Rumuodara area. The collision made the tricycles to somersault, leaving the passengers seriously injured. Some of them sustained deep cuts on the head, thigh, hand and legs”.
He, however, said the sympathizers around quickly rushed the victims to a nearby hospital in Eliowhani town, where they are receiving treatment.
