Report reaching Metronetworknews has it that suspected cultists on Tuesday night at about 2am, attacked the Okrika Police station in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers state and freed the inmates.
Metronetworknews gathered that the vicious cultists overpowered the officers on duty at the station before gaining access into the custodian of the Police Division.
A police source disclosed that the hoodlums broke the padlock of the cell and also opened the backdoor of the cell from where the inmates escaped.
The Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of the station whose name could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report was said to have confirmed it , noting that the incident had been reported to the Police Force Headquarters, Abuja as well as the state Police Command, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.
He was quoted as saying, “We have reported the incident to the police force headquarters, zonal and state commands”.
“The officers on duty at the time the cell break occurred will account for it”,
