The legal adviser to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 2023 elections, Barr. Kalu Kalu, has said that the Supreme Court of Nigeria, based on the fulfillment of requisite requirements, will admit in evidence the documents released to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by the Chicago State University.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Kalu said the Supreme Court has stated that it would admit new evidence in the case bothering on the actual winner of the said presidential elections which the Independent Electoral Commission INEC, declared in favour of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He further said that the case filed in the United States Court met the conditions required and so, there is no doubt about the validity of the documents.
Recall that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had approached the US northern district court praying the court to ask Chicago State University to release the certificates of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress following widespread allegations of forgery which certificate was tendered to the INEC by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In spite of the controversy, the Presidential Elections Petitions Tribunal in September, ruled in favour of the INEC declaration of the presidential result which led to all contending parties appealing against the judgment.
