Things That Are Better Than Money (part 2)
By Olusegun Ibikunle
The most needed in the world is peace. This is confirmed in Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
The number one thing needed on earth is peace – not money. Money is good but the above quoted scripture (Luke 2:14 ), says “on earth peace “, the scripture did not say money. Going by this hidden Biblical truth which many people lack the understanding; although money is good but peace is better than money.
To prove this truth further, The number one primary reason out of central purposes for which the United Nations ( U.N. ) was established is to maintain international peace and security.
The world needs peace – and not war . Peace loving powerful nations in the world seek military peace with countries developing and testing their nuclear weapons to avoid breakout of senseless world war. Money cannot do this but peace. Peace preserves human life but money has power to destroy human life.
A state of emergency is always declared where people can no longer live in peace – security of life and property is threatened.
Peace is needed where security has been compromised
Peace ends every war at round table.. Money is used to fight war ; money never ends war but peace is used to end war.
“Fear not!” is the most repeated command in the Bible. In fact, it’s been said that there are 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible — one “Fear not” for every day of the year! Lloyd Ogilvie in Facing the Future without Fear even said there are 366 “Fear nots” in the Bible, one for every day of the year, including Leap Year!
God doesn’t want us to go a single day without hearing his word of comfort that gives peace of mind : “Fear not!” But “Fear not” or ” Be not afraid ” that appeared as repeated command in the Bible, the application of these phrases to our daily Christian Life is more than 365 or 366 days a year including a leap year. That is, there are ways more than 365 “Fear nots” in the Bible! Thank God because we need to be reminded to “Fear not” and trust God everyday. Absolute trust in God brings peace.
These repeated command in the Bible as ” FEAR NOT ” or BE NOT AFRAID ” means the ” PEACE ” of God. Actually, there are many situations and circumstances in everyday around us in our individual lives that can make us (Christians) to begin to entertain fear or being afraid, but God commanded us ” FEAR NOT ” , that is, we should never be afraid of any situation and circumstance because he had already promised us that His presence shall be with us till the end of the world – He said, He will never leave or forsake us – His Peace (not money ) will forever abide with us : Matthew 28:20 and Hebrews 13: 5″……..and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.. ….. I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” This spiritual understanding made David said this in Psalms 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
David explained this peace of God further in Psalms 23:1 -3 by saying “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” In these verses, (1) ” The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want ” means divine provision that connotes peace of God , (2) “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures ” means divine health that brings forth peace (3) “he leadeth me beside the still waters ” – the still waters in the spirit realm means peace (4) “He restoreth my soul ” connotes the peace of mind. Everything about God is peace – it is not money. This makes peace to be better than money in Christian life. Money cannot do all what King David itemised in Psalms 23 but peace of God can do them all.
