A man, Mathias Amunde, has reportedly killed his mother in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River state.
It was gathered that the suspect alongside an accomplice smashed a stick on his mother, dragged her body outside and threw it inside a well.
It was learnt that the suspect.who has since.been arrested by the police while being interrogated, noted that his accomplice fled after they jointly threw his mother’s remains in the well.
He said in Pidgin (now translated), “I and Walcot killed her. We killed her with a stick. Walcot has gone to his house. After we killed him, Walcot dragged him out of the house and we jointly dragged him to the well.
“After we got to the well, I opened it and we jointly carried her body and threw it into the well.”
Confirming the incident in an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Office, Irene Ugbo, noted that the case would be referred to the command’s headquarters for further investigation.
“Yes, he has been arrested. He will be transferred to the police headquarters for further investigation tomorrow (Tuesday),” Ugbo said.
