The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced collation of the results of the governorship election held on Saturday from 21 Local Government Areas in Anambra State.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, in his address announced the name of the returning officer, Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi.
The collation also has returning officers for the political parties as; APC – Mr Chibuzor Obiakor, PDP – Dr Alex Obiogbolu and APGA – Senator Victor Umeh, among others.

So far, results for Anaocha, Oyi, Awka South, Anambra East and Dunukofia LGAs have been announced.
Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the Anambra state governorship election, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, is reportedly leading the polls.
Anambra has 21 LGAs and Soludo is reportedly leading in one-third, clearing all the nine LGAs that have so far been announced.
The LGAs are Idemili South, Ayemelum, Njijoka, Awka South, Onitsha South, Anambra East, Anaocha, Dunukofia, and Oyi.
