Senators reportedly exchanged blows in the Senate on Thursday over sitting arrangement.
It was gathered that trouble started around 11 am when the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, started reading out names of Senators who marked their birthdays during the forty days recess.
While the announcement was ongoing, it was learnt, Senator Sahabi Alhaji Ya’u (APC Zamfara North), stood up from the seat allocated to him to complain to the Majority Leader, Senator Micheal Opeyemi Bamidele (APC Ekiti Central), that he was uncomfortable with it.
He was said to have raised his voice at the Senate leader while he in return pointed his finger at Yau as if giving him a stern warning.
It was gathered that Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe Central) also joined his colleague Yau in shouting at Bamidele and the chairman, of Senate Services, Sunday Karimi (APC, Kogi West) who was in charge of the seating arrangements, a development that was said to have led to the senators exchanging blows and words in unpleasant tones.
This, it was learnt, degenerated into a rowdy session and consequently forced the senators to rush into a closed-session.
Recall that the main chambers of the National Assembly had been undergoing renovation.
During the time, the Senators were operating from a temporary hall.
Following the completion of the project, they moved in to the renovated chamber for their legislative business after spending about 40 days on recess.
