A father driving his two children to school and some pedestrians narrowly escaped death when a truck hit his Toyota RAV 4 SUV with registration number AFM 50 AP as well as a tricycle at Rumuodara junction, Eliowhani town in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 7:00 am today Tuesday January 14, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck which was coming from Eliowhani town, lost control due to break failure and rammed into the SUV car and the tricycle at Rumuodara junction, East-West road.
One of the eyewitnesses stated that the tricycle driver sustained various degrees of injuries while only the rear of the Toyota SUV was damaged in the crash.
“After hitting the car from the back, the truck veered off to the other lane and crushed a keke (tricycle). The keke driver who was the only person inside sustained injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. The back of the Toyota jeep was badly damaged but nothing happened to the man and his two children in the car. Some pedestrians, including school children were also lucky to have escaped unhurt when the truck veered to the other lane”, the eyewitness said.
