A young man (names withheld) in the early hours of today overpowered a thief that wanted to rob him near Genesis bridge bus stop, along Aba road in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
According to an eyewitness, the matchete wielding thief attempted to snatch a phone from the youngman but things turned the other way round as he overpowered and dispossessed him of the knife.
Continuing, he said, the man used the machete to cut the thief several times to save himself and his phone.
The eyewitnes who preferred to remain anonymous said the young man called the police who arrested the robber in a pool of blood.
Our correspondent gathered that the area is a dangerous spot where hoodlums attack motorists and passengers during the early hours of the day.
