Metronetworknews gathered that his arrest followed a petition by the National Working Committee ( NWC), which accused the Pepple-led State Executive Council(SEC) of embezzling funds meant for the party in the state.
It would recalled that the National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure, had in a statement issued on Tuesday announced the dissolution of the SEC for gross anti-party activities and corruption, stating that the resolution was reached after an emergency meeting held in Abuja.
According to the statement, the decision to sack the exco was in the interest of the party and the Obidient movement in Rivers state.
Abure said that those who were at the helm of affairs in the state when the 2023 presidential election was held should step aside until full investigation on what happened during the election in the state was completed.
He further said the party has lost confidence in the ability of the compromised State Executive Council led by Dienye Pepple to lead the campaign for the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections come March 11.
He urged all followers of the Obident Movement in the state to disregard every comment made by Pepple on the March 11 elections and reiterated the full backing of Labour Party for Mrs Beatrice Itubo. the governorship candidate of Labour Party in Rivers state.
He enjoined party faithful to come out enmasse on Saturday March 11 and vote for Itubo as the next Governor of the state.
