A Port Harcourt based constitutional lawyer, Dolapo Tella Atoni, has joined in condemning the suspension of Rivers state Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara by President Bola Tinubu.
In a post on his facebook page, the constitutional lawyer said that the President’s action showed an obvious bias against Governor Fubara.
He wrote, “As a Constitutional Lawyer, I am gutted.
“What the President has done is a Constitutional sacrilege never witnessed or experienced in this country before.
“Using the guise of a State of Emergency to remove or suspend the duly elected governor of a State from office is not contemplated by the provisions of the Constitution.
“The point must be made, the President has been very partisan in the Rivers crisis involving Fubara, Wike and the Rivers House of Assembly.
“His failure to call the Minister to Order , his foisting a so called terms of settlement to be complied with by only Governor Fubata and his hurriedly imposed State of Emergency all point to the President’s partisanship and involvement in the political crisis in Rivers State”.
