Chieftain of All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, says that the time is ripe for Governor Siminialayi Fubara to dissolve the local government and the state executive councils for the general interest of the state and his administration.
In a statement made available to the media, Chief Eze said the dissolution would enable the Governor select those who shares in his vision to be re-appointed into the State exco, warning that, “If he misses this opportunity he should have himself alone to be blamed”.
Eze called on Governor Fubara to note that it is no longer advisable to continue to play a gentleman game or stay as if nothing is happening.
”With this development which has exposed Wike’s determination alongside his misguided cohorts to incite crisis in Rivers State by continuing with their unwanted impeachment of the Governor, it is no longer advisable to continue to play a gentleman game or stay as if nothing is happening”, he said.
He added that the governor must be aware that it is time to take the fight to Wike and dismantle him formally without any further delay.
Eze counseled Fubara to be strong as the entire State is behind him in this struggle to free Rivers State from the hands of Wike.
Speaking further , Eze who was also the erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), said that the defection of 27 Lawmakers loyal to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike strengthens signals that the former Governor is fast forwarding towards retrenchment.
”The lawmakers who could at best be described as morons are just stocked in the state legislature like pieces of furniture, receiving orders and prohibitions from Wike, regardless of whether their actions are suiting to aspirations of their constituents on whose mandate they serve.
” Nyesom Wike who have boasted of having political structures in Rivers State has by his lack of character succeeded to shoot himself on the foot and to ensure he doesn’t drown alone, he conscripted the 27 moronic lawmakers who have embarked on a journey towards loosing their seats by virtue of Section 109 of the constitution.
”There are calls already from different angles including law experts and civil society groups for INEC to organise election to fill the vacant offices of the 27 Lawmakers and of course, when that happens, none of the 27 jokers will smile back to the State Assembly.
“Though temporarily let me formally welcome the 27 Lawmakers to the Cancerous political party as remarked by their Principal, Nyesom Wike who once described APC as suffering from stage four cancer which indicates that the party is at stage of total collapse.
”It is sad and unfortunate that a man who has predicted the collapse of the Party is being treated as some one with the magic wand. Those of us who sacrificed our lives and blood to build up APC will not stay aloof and allow Wike and some of his misguided friends to destroy our party no matter the odds”,Eze vowed.
Meanwhile, the political crisis in Rivers State deepened on Wednesday as about 10 bulldozers drove into the premises of the state House of Assembly and started the demolition of the complex.
This came as the factional Speaker, Edison Ehie, led other lawmakers loyal to the governor to hold a sitting early on Wednesday before the demolition began.
It was gathered that Ehie who was confirmed speaker by a Port Harcourt high court, on Tuesday, during the session, said the complex was due for repairs, following the explosion that rocked the building on October 30, 2023, saying the governor will provide an alternative place for them to sit for the meantime.
He also declared vacant the seats of the 27 Rivers law makers that defected from the PDP to the APC.
Highpoint of the sitting this morning at the temporary Assembly complex in Government House, Port Harcourt, was the election of Hon. Adolphus Timothy Orubienimigha, Member representing Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency, as new Leader of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly and the presentation of the 2024 budget estimate of N800bn by the state Governor, Sir siminialayi Fubara.
