The Rivers state Police command has assured Rivers people of adequate security before, during and after the local government election scheduled to hold on August 30,2025.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this while fielding questions from audience at a town hall meeting, organised by Rivers Peace Initiative in collaboration with Super 92.3 fm Port Harcourt and Centre for Peace and Security, University of Port Harcourt, on Friday.
The PPRO stated that the command had already drawn its strategy on how to deploy its personnel to cover the 23 local government areas of the state.
She further said that its officers were fully prepared to provide adequate security for the council polls.
“For sure our men are prepared for this election and you will see them physically everywhere on the road. Not only the police, other agencies are involved”, she disclosed.
Speaking further, the spokesperson said that the command will soon issue a press statement which would contain numbers to call incase of emergencies.
” Before then, I am going to release a press statement on it. Our numbers will be there so that you can call in case there are emergencies. But I know there will be no emergencies because the Rivers state I see now, we’re peaceful.
