One of the persons (names withheld) alleged to be involved in the killing of the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Division in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers state, late SP Bako Angbashim, has faced backlash after he said he has conscience in a video where he was seen being interrogated by security operatives.
In the clip, the suspect can be heard saying; “I will not lie, when they killed the DPO, I was not there. I was across the river. I will not lie, I have a conscience. When they brought the DPO, I did not see him. I swear. I don’t know where they buried him. But I know where they brought him from.
”My boss 2Baba contacted a native doctor from the Ogoni area of the state, who helped us to kill the DPO spiritually to enable us to defeat the gallant officer.
“2Baba has over 40 guns since I went there. The person who supplies guns to him, he called the person on the phone, pays the person, and then they will supply the guns. I don’t know him”, he added.
Reacting to the claim by the suspect that he has conscience, some Port Harcourt residents who spoke with Metronetworknews in an interview said it was not true.
They argued that as a member of a dreaded cult group that maim and kill people without human feelings, he cannot claim to have conscience.
A resident who pleaded to remain anonymous said, ”Murderers, robbers, kidnappers have no conscience. How could someone who belongs to a cult group that is said to be involved in armed robbery, kidnapping and other heinous crimes claim to have conscience? These are people who have sold their conscience to the devil the day they joined the group. If you see where they are operating you will think that they are immortal”.
On his part, another resident who identified himself simply as Chisom said, ” Don’t mind him. It is not true. A man who does not show empathy towards others as well as causing pains to other people has no conscience? When criminals are caught they talk alot of lies”.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of Rivers state Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, said that the suspect was arrested by youths and was about to be lynched before police came to the rescue.
