A policeman, identified as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Caleb, has reportedly hacked his wife, Tate, to death in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday in the Ita-Eku area along Igirigiri Road,
It was learnt that trouble started when the couple allegedly engaged in a heated argument over accusations of infidelity.
It was also learnt that the situation spiralled out of control, leading to a deadly confrontation.
It was reported that the wife allegedly attacked the officer and cut off his manhood.
In retaliation, the enraged policeman picked up a machete and hacked his wife to death, smashing her head and face in a gruesome act of violence.
The police officer and his wife have since been confirmed dead after the brutal domestic altercation.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Ekiti State, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident.
“We got a report that a couple, husband and wife dead and we went to the scene and took them to the hospital where they were confirmed dead.
“We suspected a case of violence between the couple and a knife was recovered at the scene.
“The police have commenced a proper investigation into the matter. It is true, the man was a police officer.”
“Reports indicate that the late ASP was in his second marriage, which, unfortunately, ended in tragedy.
“The couple’s bodies have been deposited at a morgue in an undisclosed hospital”, Abutu said.
