A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has revealed that Governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party were doing hatchet job for President Bola Tinubu.
The APC chieftain made this known in a statement in reaction to the position of 11 Peoples Democratic Party governors, who distanced the party from the proposed coalition being championed by the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday.
“The PDP Governors’ game plan is well known to all to ensure that either PDP doesn’t present a presidential candidate come 2027 and if they decide to field anybody, they will ensure that such a candidate can’t even win one Local Government area in the country.
“There was nothing absurd for Atiku to postulate that a coalition remains the only way to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
“The position of the PDP Governors’ Forum, chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, that the party would not participate in any coalition or merger” depicts the high level of systemic corruption being perpetuated by those occupying leadership positions in the country.
“It is now obvious that the PDP Governors are not interested in mitigating the negative effects Nigerians are passing through as a result of bad policies of the present administration.
“Their preoccupation is accessing a window of opportunity for selfish bargains that will guarantee their re-election, not minding party affiliation.
“I ask the PDP Governors; if the opposition parties and blocs do not unite in principle and action, can the APC be dislodged out of power in 2027?
“The truth is that Nigerians are now more aware of the dirty and selfish style of politics being played by some opposition governors. The strategy of deliver me in my State and have my support at the Presidential election is in public domain.
“I still believe like Atiku that when the governors, or some of them, realize that the coalition is a project with its own momentum and a time that has come, they will align properly”, he stated.
