All attempts by the leadership of the PDP National Convention Planning Committee to persuade former President Goodluck Jonathan to attend the National Convention of the party have failed.
The Planning Committee had met with the former President,on Friday evening at his Maitama Abuja residence.
The visit was led by Adamawa State Governor and Chairman of the Convention Planning Committee, Ahmadu Fintiri.
In the brief closed door meeting was Governor of Bayelsa State and Deputy Chairman of the National Convention Committee, Senator Douye Diri, and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State who is the Secretary of the Convention Committee.
Sources close to the former President said he refused to become involved with them despite their passionate entreaties and departed Abuja on Saturday for Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, to attend the 12th African Union (AU) high-level retreat on the promotion of peace, security and stability in Africa.
