The former Nigerian Ambassador to The Netherlands, Chief Oji Nyimenuate Ngofa, says Ogoni Leaders adopting Wike to lead its multi-consultative purpose forum on OML 11 are killing Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni Martyrs the second time.
Speaking at a public function in Port Harcourt, the former ambassador cautioned against making Chief Wike the leader of the delegation.
Ngoja is among several people including activists who have rejected the governor .
Environmental activists, Celestine Akpobari and Fyneface Dumnamene Fyneface had also criticised those Ogoni leaders who adopted the state governor to lead the Ogoni delegation to discuss with Federal Government on the planned resumption of oil production in OML 11.
In his view, Akpobari said, “Those who went to Government House to delegate Wike to lead Ogoni have passed vote of no confidence on themselves, adding that they have exhibited slavery mentality”.
He added; “If they are now coming to tell us Ogoni people that there are no persons in Ogoni to lead Ogoni people, then they have sold their own rights but not myself, our rights are still with us”.
“They have told the world that they are not qualified to lead Ogoni, they have told the world that they are not qualified to speak for Ogoni people”.
“So I wonder why they claim to be representing Ogoni in government if they can not speak for Ogoni”.
“They have passed a vote of no confidence in themselves, and it is shameful”.
“I think our forebears, those that died on behalf of Ogoni in the struggle will be crying in their graves; that Ogoni people will be begging an outsider to go and lead them in a delegation in a 21st century”.
“That’s slavery mentality”, Akpobari said.
