The Centre For Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, a non governmental organization, says the authorities should investigate the allegation of rape of two underage girls by a youth corper in Port Harcourt.
A member of the organization,Gladys Onyenmwen who stated this while speaking with newsmen, today, said the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Nkpolu, Oroworukwo,Mile 3 Diobu,PortHarcourt, Godstime Ihunwo, had informed the human rights advocacy group that while on patrol with his men, at about 10pm, last Thursday, they found three children, two females aged 12 and 13 years and a ten year old boy with their luggage and upon interrogating them, they said they ran out of their home due to alleged ill-treatment and ‘sex’ slavery they were experiencing.
According to her, the CSO said the children informed him that their former Anty,Blessing Ibilaba who is late told them they were taken from orphanage home and their present guardian who is the woman’s brother took custody of them after her death but his son has turned them to a sex slave taken turns in them.
“Our major concern is the revelation made by the underage girls that the son to their present guardian ,who is a youth corper allegedly defiled them and has constantly raped them”.
“We are demanding that a through investigation should be carried out with a view to serving justice in the matter to all the parties ”, She said
Furthermore, Onyenmwen said on getting the information, they took the children to Rumulomeni Police Division at Iwofe, where the guardian resides.
She added that the children have been handed over to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Rivers State by the Centre, noting that the youth Corper is said to be serving outside Rivers State.
