Following the alleged poisoning of a medical doctor, identified as Tony who returned to his village for christmas, some locals of Nenu community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, where the incident happened have called for thorough investigation into the matter.
Tony, reportedly died after consuming a drink allegedly laced with poison by his kinsman.
The incident took place on Boxing Day, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Prince Agbara, a friend of the deceased, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook.
According to Agbara, Dr. Tony, who was alive and well on Christmas Day, tragically lost his life the following day after consuming the poisoned drink.
“This is disheartening. Somebody that was alive and healthy on the 25th, poisoned on the 26th through drink and he vomited and that was it, by his kinsman. On noticing that my friend had died he ran away with his family,” Agbara wrote in his post.
The authorities are yet to release an official statement or confirm if efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
