The Nigerian Presidency has revealed that the proscribed group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is attempting to hold several states in the South-East ‘hostage’ with its Sit-at-home orders.
This was contained in statement signed by Presidential media, Garba Shehu on Wednesday night.
Shehu disclosed that IPOB was a designated terrorist organisation with over 50,000 soldiers that kill security agents and civilians.
The statement read in part; “IPOB is a designated terrorist organisation. It has now publicly revealed a 50,000 strong paramilitary organisation.”
“It regularly murders security services and innocent civilians, with a significant uptick of violent attacks this year. And it is currently attempting to hold Nigerian states hostage with orders to stay at home under threat of terror.”
