The federal government has placed a two million naira bounty on the Anambra-based lawyer, Adachukwu Cukelu-Okafor, who allegedly used a broken bottle, knife and an electric iron to brutalise her 10-year-old house help.
The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, who made this known while addressing journalists in Abuja on Monday, sought the support of all Nigerians with any vital information that could lead to the arrest of Cukelu-Okafor, who is on the run.
She described the lady’s action as unacceptable and unpardonable acts of child abuse and reiterated the resolve of the Ministry to fight against all forms of abuse against the vulnerable children in the society.
Kennedy-Ohanenye, disclosed that the Ministry will provide some succour for the parents of the victim to earn a living that will change their economic status and discourage them from giving out any of their children as house help.
The lawyer is alleged to have used a broken bottle, knife and an electric iron to brutalise the child said to be her niece.
The incident was said to have happened in Akpaka, Onitsha in Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, after Mrs Cukelu-Okafor, reportedly accused the huse help named Happiness of touching her daughter.
