Former National Adviser of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Kaduna state, Mr. Mark Jacob has expressed deep concern over the internal wrangling in the party at the national and state levels.
Speaking in an interview on Arise TV, Jacob blamed the current crisis on the personal selfish interest of stakeholders.
Said he; ” The reality is that individual interests are taking supremacy and dictating what is happening”.
“The defection of Governors, the internal crisis between the leadership of PDP at the national level and even some crisis you find in some states, all of them have their roots in the personal selfish interest of stakeholders as envisaged towards 2023”.
“It is not really about providing good leadership, virile, responsible, positive and attractive opposition”.
” It is simply about individuals who are struggling to take charge of the processes of the emergence of political office holders in 2023″.
” It has nothing to do with providing good governance and transparency”.
” Everything revolves around personal selfish interest of people and that is very unfortunate because the country as we have it today is completely being misgoverned; the economy is in shambles; insecurity particularly where I am is at its highest. Nigerians have never been traumatized like this today”.

“Unfortunately, the PDP that ought to take advantage of these issues and canvass them to the public and attract attention and followership is busy scrambling over things that are not available”.
“If the insecurity escalates, there won’t be people to contest the elections; if the killings and the wanton kidnappings escalate, there will be no election in 2023”.
“So, when people are busy approaching the mundane instead of concentrating on the very things that Nigerians are disturbed about, it is a very big disappointment”, he lamented.
Furthermore, the former National Adviser expressed misgiving on the approach being employed by the national leadership of the party to deal with the situation.
“It is unfortunate that the leadership of the party at the national level has allowed things to get out of hand because there are issues that one cannot also sweep under the carpet”.
“But the structure of the party is such that all those issues could be handled either at the NEC level, Caucus level or specialized meetings could be called to address the grievances of people”.
“I think one of the issues is that people will complain and they will be ignored and that is not good in any democratic setting. What is happening is a product of selfish individual tendencies and nothing more”, he said.
