An evening fire incident has razed down a one-storey residential building at Rumuodara area of Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
Narrating how the incident occurred, residents told Metronetworknews that the fire started at about 8pm on Thursday.
They stated that although firefighters arrived at the scene at about 8:55pm to put out the fire, their efforts was unsuccessful.
They added that it took a sudden heavy rainfall to quench the inferno and prevented it from spreading to adjoining buildings, including a nearby gas station, supermarket and fast food outlets.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined as at the time of filing this report.
